World Car Free Day: A Step towards Sustainable Living

World Car Free Day, celebrated on September 22nd each year, encourages individuals, communities, and cities worldwide to give up their cars for a day.

This initiative aims to promote alternative modes of transportation and raise awareness about the environmental impact of car dependency.

Purpose of World Car Free Day

1. Environmental Awareness: Reducing car use for a day helps to decrease air pollution, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and combat climate change.

2. Health Benefits: Encouraging walking, cycling, and public transport promotes physical activity, leading to improved health and well-being.

3. Community Engagement: The day fosters community spirit as people explore their neighborhoods without the noise and congestion of cars.

World Car Free Day serves as a reminder of the importance of sustainable transportation. By participating, we can contribute to a cleaner environment, healthier lifestyles, and stronger communities.

Let’s embrace this day as an opportunity to rethink our transportation choices and work towards a more sustainable future.

Lets encourage everyone to take part and make a difference, even if just for one day!

Overtime, we’ve noticed that reviews are mostly done by outsiders on a website, forgetting that the reviews done from insiders also greatly matters a lot.

We however asked a few of our pupils and staff to give us a review of what they think about Page Schools.

This are the major reviews below from Page Schools Staff and Pupils-

  •   I like Page Schools because of the football club and the way my teacher teaches. – Captain, Year 4 Pupil.

School Clubs have overtime played a positive role in the life of pupils. These clubs have helped nurture social relationships, improved networking skills, enhance cooperation skills, facilitate creative building experiences etc.

At Page Schools, the clubs have effectively helped improve our unique pupils in various ways. Looking at more specific benefits of School Clubs in schools using Page Schools as a case study, here are my top four importance of school clubs below-

1.     Improved Academic Performance-

Research have however proved that there is a direct relationship between Participation in clubs and good educational outcomes. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, “Students who compete in high school activity programs have better educational outcomes, including higher grades, higher achievement test scores, and higher educational expectations beyond high school.â€? This research makes sense. Take for instance, Page Schools Public Speaking Club, the club allows our pupils grow self-confidence, overcome low self-esteem, learn leadership skills and activeness in class.

2.     Friendship and Bonding-

Clubs have always had a way of building friendships and bonding between with pupils one way or the other. Club activity in Page Schools such as Crafty hands club has helped build pure friendships and bonding among our pupils. During the process of creating amazing art works, they get to work together, share ideas. This however helps them have a great friendship that can evolve into a lifelong healthy friendship.

3.     Body and Mental Boosting-

According to the mental health non-profit organization HelpGuide, participating in work that you believe is meaningful is one of the fundamental ways to improve your mental health. Clubs have a way of helping pupils build their mental health and boost their body as a way of exercise thereby making them productive in various ways. Page Schools Ballet and Taekwondo club help to improve the pupil’s mental health by them learning exciting movements and skills, it also helps them exercise their body systems as a form of healthy exercise, which is very good for the body as a whole.

4.     Team Work and Leadership Skills-

Clubs help to improve team work and leadership skills among pupils. Using Page Schools Coding & Robotics Club and Football Club as a case study. The Coding & Robotics Club helps the pupils learn the Importance of teamwork and how it goes a long way to produce a successful project, when done in harmony and understanding. The Football club helps pupils learn leadership skills, when on the pitch, they learn how important it is to lead and also that teamwork is of great essence as without teamwork, the team can lose a goal. With this clubs, the pupils will grow with mindset of knowing that teamwork and leadership can take them very far in life at the long run.

These and so much more are the important benefits of School Clubs to our unique pupils. It might seem as if clubs are just merely to have fun, but when you have a deeper thought about it, you’ll realize pupils would have learnt a lot while also having fun, not just for the memories but for the lessons that will go a long way in their future.

Our pupils and students showcased their leadership skills and enthusiasm as they campaigned for different positions, creating a buzz of excitement throughout the school.

During recess, our amazing pupils and students took the opportunity to visit different classes and shared their campaign messages.

They presented their ideas, goals, and visions for making positive changes within our school community. It was truly inspiring to see their confidence and passion shine through!

The students put their creative hats on and came up with innovative ways to engage their peers. From catchy slogans to eye-catching posters, they left no stone unturned in their quest to win the hearts and votes of their fellow classmates.

But it wasn't just about the campaigning.

To all our students who participated in the elections, know that your voices and ideas matter. Your courage to step up and make a difference is something to be proud of. Keep shining bright and continue to be the change-makers we know you are!
